National Genealogy Society 2023 Family History Conference Recap, Review, and Photos

The National Genealogy Society’s 2023 Family History Conference “The Deep Roots of a Nation” proved an exceptionally successful event for the genealogy community and featured several momentous announcements by NGS. Over several days, in a bustling convention center in Richmond, Virginia, participants—including genealogists, historians, and enthusiasts from around the world— had the opportunity to attend diverse workshops, network with fellow researchers, and gain valuable insights into tracing their ancestral roots.

I was fortunate to be the official NGS photographer for this year’s conference, so this article includes a photo album of the conference. The photo assignment allowed me to document my experience in a different medium than written words. You may have seen me running around in the background, climbing on chairs, or nearly lying on the floor to get a good photo angle. This article also reflects on my experience at the conference and the announcements made by NGS. This article’s thoughts, reflections, and words are not those of NGS but mine and mine alone.
